Management Team
Dr. Lubna Ahmad founded Invoy Technologies to commercialize intellectual property that she invented. She has recruited Invoy’s current team, developed Invoy’s strategic plan, has led Invoy through a series of partnerships and has positioned the company for product launch. Dr. Ahmad was a Goldwater Scholar and a member of the USA Today Top 20 College Academic Team. She was a graduate fellow of the National Science Foundation and earned her Ph.D. in biomedical engineering in Arizona.
Dr. Ahmad values community outreach and has helped prepare high school students for statewide science competitions and judge various statewide and regional science fairs. She is a member of the advisory board of Cooperative Diagnostics, a molecular diagnostics company focused on providing low-cost diagnostic tests to developing countries.
Ms. Adkisson is a results-oriented professional with over 20 years in the medical device industry. She has a unique combination of sales, marketing and management experience with a proven track record of success utilizing creativity, strategic management, strong interpersonal skills and work ethic. Since 2003, she has provided expertise on a contract basis for medical, biopharm, biotech and healthcare companies as well as venture capitalists. She provides sales training, clinical evaluations, product management and evaluation expertise, physician relationship and thought leader development including white papers and clinical trials, investor relations management, business plan and presentation development, creation and implementation of new sales tools, strategies and promotions, and trade show management.
Ms. Adkisson has a BA in Sociology from the University of California, Irvina where she graduated summa cum laude. She also holds an MBA from Pepperdine University.
Donna has a total of 18 years experience in scientific research and working within FDA-regulated industries including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biologics, and combination products. Her experience includes project management, QA/QC Systems development and implementation, QC Laboratory controls, regulatory affairs, auditing, cGMP training programs, PAI readiness plans, FDA 483/warning letter response writing and drug substance manufacturing. Her technical skills include analytical chemistry, organic synthesis, DNA photochemistry, regulatory writing and document control. Donna has a Ph.D. in chemistry from Arizona State University and a B.A. in chemistry and biology from the University of North Carolina.
Mr. Heaton has close to 30 years of industry experience with technology and engineering companies. Currently, he is the Vice President of Platform Engineering at TiVo. Mr. Heaton has substantial experience in developing electronic and hardware systems and is well versed in the manufacturing process, including design for manufacturing, design verification, and field testing. In addition to managing large product teams, he has developed several products and has taken them through manufacturing and into the market. He received his B.S.E.E. from University of Utah in 1980 with an emphasis in digital design and computer architecture.
Advisory Board
Dr. Gavin graduated from Livingstone College in Salisbury, N.C., in 1966 with a degree in chemistry. He earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Emory University in 1970 and his M.D. degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 1975.
Dr. Gavin is Clinical Professor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA and Clinical Professor of Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine. He was president of the Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, GA from 2002-2004. He served as senior scientific officer at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) from 1991-2002 and director of the HHMI-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program from 2000-2002.
Dr. Gavin belongs to a number of organizations, including the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, the American Diabetes Association, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, and the American Association of Physicians. He is a past president of the American Diabetes Association and was voted Clinician of the Year by ADA in Diabetes in 1991. He is a member of the Board of Baxter International, Inc., Amylin Pharmaceuticals, and Nuvelo Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Gavin is immediate past chairman of the National Diabetes Education Program and a past member of the Advisory Council to the NIDDK. He is also chairman of the Data Safety Monitoring Board for the VA Cooperative Diabetes Study.
Dr. Kiron has over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry and is well versed in all aspects of drug discovery, delivery, pre-clinical and early clinical drug development, bioinformatics and database management investment due-diligence, and alliance management. Prior to joining Adjuvant Global Advisors, Dr. Kiron was the Chief Operating Officer at LifeTech Innovations, LLC, a Business Development and Strategic Advisory consulting firm. Before LTI, he was the Executive Director for New Technology Assessment and Planning at Johnson & Johnson / ALZA Corporation. Responsibilities included: drug delivery technology & research strategy and planning, in- and out- licensing, M&A and intellectual property management.
Prior to his tenure at Pfizer, Dr. Kiron was a biochemistry and medicine faculty member at Cornell University Medical Center in New York. He holds a BSc in Chemistry and an MSc in Microbiology from Bombay University, India. He also earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, India and an MBA from Rensselaer in Hartford, Connecticut.
Dr. Kundu was in the employ of Abbot Labs for 23 years in medical diagnostics research and development as a Project and Lab Manager. While at Abbott, Dr. Kundu led Abbott’s team to develop and obtain FDA approval for a benchtop breath acetone device. Dr. Kundu was inducted as a Volweiler Research Fellow with eight US patents and 65 publications in books and journals. He has served as a World Health Organization Consultant in Immunodiagnostics and enjoyed nine years of teaching at Baylor University and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Mr. Johansen has more than 15 years of professional experience working successfully with numerous enterprise customers & technology partners worldwide in sales, alliances, business development and other management capacities. He currently works on the executive management team for iPark Silicon Valley, a Korean information technology and business development center backed by the Republic of Korea responsible for creating partnerships between US and Korea technology companies. Mr. Johansen has worked in advisory or sales management positions for a number of leading global technology companies, including Tandem Computers, Compaq, HP, Samsung and others. He is also a licensed business attorney and his software & technology experience includes developing and managing early-stage companies backed by Intel, Accel, Redpoint and other investors. His educational background includes a Juris Doctorate of Law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, as well as an M.B.A. in Marketing and a B.A. in Economics.
